Hey ian and gerg post your shit here

  1. Photographs are a nice way to show the variety of work on the record cases. They differ so much it's the best way to represent the objects. The simplicity of the infographics aren't distracting and help allow us to view the albums themselves. I enjoy the extra effort of coding you went through to achieve the scroll bar. That turned out very nice. The sort methods are all simple to navigate through, but I wish there was some variety in type to organize hierarchy. Look at all the different type faces used on your covers, maybe you could reference one or two of those. The 'CHOICE VINYL' seems to be odd just sitting in space, as well does the box. You need to change that circle gradient foo. just put it on a table in a dark room or something it doesn't really matter. You have so much room it seems at the bottom to put the scroll bar, so make those infographs bigger. It also could just be my screen size. Everything seems to be clear as kansas city water. (if you didn't know it's suppose to be the cleanest drinking water in the nation...so they say) Functionality is pretty top notch because it's so simple. Roll over's are a nice touch.

Overall, great functionality and simplicity. Navigation is nice it's up at all times, just work on the layout a bit more and you're there.

  2. Rendering method of individual objects:

The rendering of the objects is appropriate, I would say the rendering is engaging. Part of the joy in record collecting is the album art so a more "interesting" rendering would have detracted from the art and thus contradicted the collection.

Composition & typography of site's content:

the type seems a bit default, i think there can be something that would be quiet enough to enhance and complement the collection but not blaring so as to distract form the collection. it is all most definitely legible though, but in your map infograph the type is a bit small and in one instance runs out of its text box. I site overall is a bit...meh (if you don't know the word, look it up. its real and recently added to the collins english dictionary) the record box has a lot of real estate and doesn't do anything. I want to be able to flip through the albums or something, or SOMETHING.

    Information visualization strategies:

your infographs are pretty clear the one i am most unsure of is the 500 albums of all time. I understand it but the information never quantifies for me. Meaning everything is so spaced out and small within that five hundred that all i really know is there are a lot of "fuck it" albums.

    Functionality

site works great. the scroll bar was a good choice since the collection could get too small or you would sacrifice clarity, you can't see the whole collection at once, but at this point i don't know how much of a problem that is.

nice job karn i liked your enthusiasm throughout this project.
